School Safety Certification Program

Update on School Safety Certification Program:

Effective September 1, 2017, the School Safety Certification Program expired in accordance with Texas Education Code, Section 37.1081. The purpose of the school safety certification program was to award a school safety certificate to school districts that met criteria specified by the Texas School Safety Center. These criteria were based on the Texas Unified School Safety and Security Standards developed by the Texas School Safety Center in collaboration with stakeholders. All existing district certifications will remain valid until November 30, 2017, and a list of the districts certified through this program can be viewed by following the link below.

While this program may have ended, the Texas School Safety Center will continue recognizing Texas school districts across our state who are implementing best practices in school safety.

Please visit our School Safety Spotlight Program webpage to nominate a specific collaboration, program, group, or individual. Nominations can be made in one of five different categories. The Texas School Safety Center’s School Safety Spotlight Program is designed to recognize and promote schools, districts, and/or individuals that foster education and learning through safe and secure campuses.
